Deathloop – What to Infuse First

Deathloop - What to Infuse First

It can be tough deciding what to infuse first in Deathloop if you’ve only just unlocked this new mechanic. Do you try to save your Residuum for something better or spend it immediately once you can? Our short guide below provides recommendations on what to infuse first and when to save up.

What to Infuse First in Deathloop

Slab abilities are a great place to start so you permanently have strong powers across each loop.

The amount of Residuum you’ll need depends on what you’re infusing and this can definitely play a role in your decisions. If you’re trying to keep a new slab or upgrade, you’ll need to spend a solid 8,000 Residuum. This can be pretty expensive if you’re not exploring districts thoroughly for this currency.

However, you can definitely get a large amount of Residuum from hunting Visionary targets and Julianna especially. If you leave your session open to invasions from players, you have a better chance at getting multiple slabs as well. However, this can end your run pre-maturely and nobody wants that. Visit our How to Pause guide for how to disable player invasions.

Search for glowing objects early on so you can start collecting enough Residuum for what you need.

Regardless, I like to infuse slabs first so I can wield strong abilities for all sorts of situations. However, you may prefer to pass on certain ones if you don’t enjoy using them. For example, I didn’t use Havoc much, but I almost always had Shift equipped. This can be a good opportunity to sacrifice abilities you don’t care about for a nice chunk of Residuum.

Our guide on How to Infuse Gear covers sacrificing if you’re not sure how that works. Once I got a good slab setup going, I switched to infusing powerful character trinkets. These can be a gamechanger since they often have strong passive buffs. Such as an extra bar of energy or hacking turrets from extremely far away.

Deathloop - Extended Signal Character Trinket

Extended Signal is a huge quality of life change for hacking devices extremely far away. No need to worry about enemy turrets anymore.

While I prioritized infusing weapon trinkets last, that doesn’t mean you have to. It can just get a little confusing since you can infuse duplicates for multiple weapons. So I often found myself unsure of whether I had a weapon trinket yet or not. You can find my weapon trinket recommendations in my guide on All Weapon Trinkets in Deathloop.

That’s all there is to this guide on what to infuse first in Deathloop. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask in the comments below. I wouldn’t worry too much since you’ll end up with a lot of Residuum as you get deeper into the story. Be sure to visit more guides below for common questions around the community.
