If you’re not sure how to complete the Diablo 4 Secret of the Spring quest, don’t worry, we’ve got a guide for you. Chances are you came across a Discarded Note item in the Fractured Peaks and started this side quest. However, that crumpled-up note can be confusing since it has a riddle to solve.
We’ve included both a complete text walkthrough below as well as a video one. The video doesn’t include any commentary, but it does show the start of the quest to the finish.
Secret of the Spring Side Quest Riddle
If you don’t remember the note’s riddle or aren’t sure where to find it, don’t worry, we’ve got it in this screenshot and below.
“Beacon of warmth in winter’s embrace, patience rewarded by nature’s own grace.”
Some players may read this note and simply move on without having any idea what to do. Fortunately, this side quest does at least tell you where to go next. And that’s actually the first half of the riddle. The “beacon of warmth in winter’s embrace” is referring to a hot spring not too far away.
If you’re not sure where the hot spring is, you can check your map for the side quest blue circle. It’s still in the Frigid Expanse region, but it’s northeast of where you are. Otherwise, you can check the screenshot below showing the exact location.
The note’s riddle for Secret of the Spring isn’t too far away from where you found it. If you’re not sure where to start the quest, it’s by my player arrow at the bottom left.
Once you’ve made it to the hot spring, you’ll need to solve the “patience rewarded by nature’s own grace” riddle step. It’s easy to not know what to do here since this is more toward what you’d expect in an MMORPG. However, for those of you that have completed the Raising Spirits quest in Kyovashad, you may know what to do next.
This part of the riddle says to be patient so how can you show that you’re patient? First, I thought I had to stand near the hot spring and wait around until the Secret of the Spring was complete. But, the game was looking for a little bit more interaction out of me than that.
This side quest can be completed in just a few minutes to get some quick free loot.
As silly as it is, all you need to do is use the “Wait” emote while standing by the hot spring. If you’re playing on PC, you can open the emote radial menu by holding “E”. Then, you’ll need to assign the “Wait” emote to your wheel by clicking the Customize button. Afterward, drag “Wait” down below onto the radial menu.
Once you’re ready, click to Save Changes and then use the “Wait” emote to complete the Secret of the Spring quest. This will reveal a buried chest that springs out of the ground suddenly.
