Diablo 4 – Can You Respec Points

Diablo 4 - Can You Respec Points

Whether you’re playing an action RPG, an MMORPG, or almost any type of RPG really, a common question is, can you respec points? It’s always a struggle when you’re not quite sure how you want to build a character at first. So picking a permanent skill point in a game like Diablo 4 would be a pain.

Especially when you play a game with a massive skill tree that branches in a ton of different directions. Fortunately, the Diablo 4 skill tree isn’t too wild compared to action RPGs like Path of Exile. However, you still likely won’t know about a cool skill far down the tree that you later want to focus on.

Deciding where to put a new skill point can be stressful.

The good thing about this action RPG is that you can respec points and refund them for a small cost. Although, before you reach level 10, all refund costs are completely free. So it won’t cost you anything to experiment with the 10 or so skill points that you’ve unlocked so far. Personally, I don’t think it’s enough to play around with, but it’s a little helpful.

With that said, the respec cost for refunding skills isn’t too bad. Even though the Diablo 4 beta made it feel like I never have enough gold for everything I need to buy. But, you can at least respec individual skill points if you don’t want to completely reset your skills.

Diablo 4 - Refunding a Skill Point

Refunding individual skill points is much cheaper than your entire skill tree if you’re making small changes.

If you’re playing Diablo 4 on PC, you can open your skill tree by pressing A, by default. This will reveal the side window with your skills which you can expand further by using the arrow on the side. Personally, I like to expand the skill tree so I can see more and navigate easier.

Once you have it open, there will be a “Refund All” red button at the bottom of your screen. You can click this button to see the total cost for refunding every skill point you’ve used so far. For a general idea of how much it can cost, refunding 26 skill points costs 2,860 gold. This puts it at 110 gold per skill if you try to refund them individually.

If you’re ready to try a completely new Diablo 4 build for your character, hit that refund button!

That’s all there is to this short guide on answering the question, can you respec points in Diablo 4. So while it does eventually cost gold to refund your skill points, it isn’t too expensive. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different builds or if you’re not sure, you can always try looking up some as well.

What I wish we could get in Diablo 4 is different skill tree presets. When I played the beta, I frequently wanted to try a different build for a different situation. Such as clearing a dungeon full of mobs or taking on the world boss Ashava. There are definitely times when certain skills are much better to use.

I hate it when games don't let players respec points, thankfully Diablo lets you respec skill points and it's not a permanent decision. I played as a sorcerer during the beta, and i completely agree certain builds with specific skills would have been much better.
