Dead Rails – How to Use Dynamite

This quick Dead Rails guide covers how to use Dynamite so you can start blowing stuff up. While you can use it to blow up zombies, you’ll mainly need it for the Town of Sterling and Bank vaults if you don’t have the code.

How to Use Dynamite in Dead Rails

Dead Rails - Lighting a Dynamite Fuse

No animals were hurt during this moment.

I don’t blame you if you don’t know how to use it because I couldn’t immediately figure it out my first time either. I tried shooting it with different weapons hoping it would explode. However, all you actually need to do is drag a Torch over the Dynamite to light the fuse.

Just make sure to immediately get out of range because the explosion is deadly. If you’re trying to use the Dynamite to blow open a Bank vault, there isn’t too much to it. You just have to place it near the vault door and light it using your Torch. Afterward, it’ll blow open revealing all those juicy valuables and Bonds to grab.

Aside from blowing the vault open, you can also use Dynamite to break two wooden walls behind the Town of Sterling. Fortunately, there’s a decent amount of Dynamite inside the Town of Sterling mines so you won’t need to bring your own. Even though you can buy it from the General Store for $25 if you’re lucky enough that it appears.

The Town of Sterling also seems to consistently have a Torch available inside the Sheriff building before the mine. I recall coming across more Torches inside but you’ll need at least one to knock down the first wooden wall of planks.

Other than the Bank and Town of Sterling, if you’re thinking about blowing up ore rocks for Gold, Silver, or Coal, don’t do it! I’ve wasted Dynamite testing it to find out it doesn’t work so you don’t have to try it yourself. Unfortunately, you’ll still need to use a melee weapon or Pickaxe to mine if you have one.

That’s about all there is to this short guide on how to use Dynamite in Dead Rails. It’s a useful tool for certain situations but you won’t need it most of the time. I haven’t bothered using it much on enemies but for all I know it could be powerful against the secret boss. The one thing I do know is that exploding zombies are annoying!
