Do Big Studios Allegedly No Longer Working on Fisch

Fisch Game Art Reeling in a Dinosaur Fish

Do Big Studios acquired Fisch in November 2024, but as of recently, it is allegedly no longer working on it. This is according to the Fisch Discord, where a user named Noah announced on July 7 that its development was given back to some of the original developers,

“Development on Fisch is no longer being worked on by the previous team, we’ve handed over development to some of the original developers & contributors led by people behind some of Fisch’s biggest updates.

@nick. will be taking over development, which should be filled with a ton of amazing quality updates!”

Removing Intrusive Monetization in Fisch

Shortly afterward, the Discord user who goes by nick stated their plans to scale back intrusive monetization and add free content. While it is possible that Do Big Studios is no longer working on Fisch, it does still own it on Roblox. The Roblox group that owns Fisch, Fisching, is currently controlled by user @do_big. We’ve reached out to Do Big Studios, nick, and another Fisch developer for more information, but none have answered.

According to the original Fisch developer and owner on Discord, Nate, they haven’t worked on the game in “a very long time” and are too busy now. In addition to this, Nate also mentioned in June 2025 that, “fisch got boring and is hard to update. spaghetti code too. I wasnt happy, simple as that”. Which doesn’t make it seem likely they’ll return to Fisch, especially since they’re currently working on their other game DIG.

With that said, one has to wonder if Nate could have prevented the intrusive monetization in Fisch, mentioned by developer nick. In the original acquisition announcement, both Nate and the Do Big Studios COO emphasized that Nate was still the owner and, as the COO put it, “…he is by no means a minority shareholder.” It’s difficult to say much without knowing the terms of the acquisition deal since Do Big Studios doesn’t reply to our requests for comment. And Nate hasn’t responded to us in the past either.

It’s possible Do Big Studios has a revenue-sharing plan with Nate, as mentioned on its website. If this is the case, Nate would benefit from more monetization in Fisch, assuming it continues to earn more money. However, you could argue that it’s making less money due to falling significantly from its high concurrent player peaks in late 2024 and early 2025. According to the website Rolimons, Fisch peaked at 539,000 players on December 7, 2024. The peak for July 17, 2025, was 13,302 players.

It’s impossible to know the future of Fisch since it seems that Do Big Studios is still in control and Nate isn’t currently involved. We’ll update you if we hear more about it, but if you’re a developer with knowledge of its development, feel free to contact us at [email protected].
